A Harvest Table is a "catch all" name for a table with a simple country style. One you might see in a kitchen of the past. It was used for many purposes from a work table, food prep, and a dining table.  This table could be used in several ways in addition to kitchen use, such as a hall or entry table. It features bread board ends and turned legs. The wood is Southern Yellow Pine and stained a dark color and finished with hand rubbed spar varnish.

 

I am always on the lookout for wood, and sometimes you find it where you might not expect. I was at the farm sale of a local gentleman who had recently passed away. He raised baby calves and had his livestock trailer double decked so that he could haul more calves at a time. As I walked around the items, I came upon a pile of lumber. This was the second deck of his trailer, and I built this table thinking of this man and how these pine boards had been used to make his living. I never look at this table without remembering him!
