Jelly Cabinet

This is a small cabinet that nearly qualifies as an antique. I actually built it back in 1977 or 1978, I really don't remember exactly when. It was built of some Southern Yellow Pine that came from a building that was torn down in Stephenville, Texas. I also don't remember why I called it a Jelly Cabinet.... Time and age do funny things to my memory.... And as I look at it now, I can see so many things I should have done in a different way.... One thing I didn't do was put a finish on it... And again I don't remember why... But we have used it in our home for all these years, without a finish on it, for several purposes.... My wife strongly suggested on several occasions that we finish it, without much success on her part... But I finally gave in here recently  when my son left for college and we didn't need it for storage at the moment. I also put a new back on it with some Western Red Cedar. We stained it with a dark stain and then sanded it to give it an aged look and then applied a wipe on varnish finish. I also changed the hardware to some rusted and hand forged hinges and a pull. And now I am still wondering why I never finished it?
