Texas Rivers Dining and Poker Table and Chairs

Several years ago we were approached by a gentleman wanting a table that he could use as a family dining table and as a Poker Table. Usually this idea is more informal, but in this case it needed to be the prominent piece of a family dining area. After visiting in the home several times we found that the man and his family had a great interest in the History and Geography of the State of Texas. This became the focus of our design and we came up with this table and chairs.

The Table is made of Pecan, Oak, Walnut, and Mesquite. It features a turned pedestal and an octagonal top. The Poker surface has a matching felt cover with chip trays and drink holders lined with cork. The removable dining top is the focal part of the set. Again, the top is octagonal with a Walnut figure of Texas inlaid and with the major rivers of Texas inlaid into that. It is surounded by a field of shop cut Pecan veneer and banded by solid Pecan.

The chairs are mounted on casters and have an adjustable swivel mechanism. They feature a sculpted seat, specially designed curved back rungs and crest. They are made of Pecan with each having an inlaid figure of Texas, in the back. Each inlay is a different wood, using Burled Mesquite, Mesquite, Walnut, and Oak.
